2015’s Best Events and How to Make them Memorable
Even though we’re still in the throes of this oppressive summer heat, now is just as good a time as any to start picturing yourself enjoying the dwindling temperatures and fall events. Usually when people think of fall they think about the kids returning to school, football, and the changing colors of the trees that surround us. Some people are sad to see the days of cooking out, summer vacations, and jumping into the lake or pool on a sweltering day go. While it’s perfectly fine to hate seeing summer end, it doesn’t mean the fun has to.
Baltimore has plenty of events and activities coming up during the fall months and we’ve put together some of our favorites as well as a tip on how to make the most of them.
This neighborhood arts festival originally started as a local community event that was thrown together by the Hampden Village Merchants Association and the Hampden Community Council. Over the years it has grown in popularity so much that Baltimore native, and well known director, John Waters has made an appearance a time or two.
There is truly something for the whole family at Hampdenfest every year. Three different stages provide entertainment in the form of art and music as well as four blocks worth of vendors hocking their wares. Local artists and merchants have enjoyed the success of festivals past and hope to see you come out this year.
In addition to the culture, music, and art that will be overflowing, you will also be happy to know that there will be plenty of Baltimore, Chesapeake Bay, and local Hampden cuisine available to nosh on while you’re there. Be sure to come on an empty stomach as there will be plenty of pit beef and crab cakes to devour as well as locally brewed beer with which you can wash it down.
Maryland Wine Festival
The Maryland Wine Festival first started out with only four wineries in attendance. Over the years that number has grown to over 40 different Maryland Wineries Association’s members. This two day festival is a great way to support local wineries while enjoying the fruits of their labor. Whether your palate enjoys a Pinot Grigio or a Chardonnay Cabernet, there will be a wine there for you to enjoy. You may even find that you like one style over what your personal favorite has always been up to that point.
There will be plenty of amazing local food to enjoy as well, so you don’t have to worry about drinking too much on an empty stomach. Be sure to try such regional favorite dishes like crab cakes and oysters. After noshing on oysters and sipping a few wines, you’ll be entertained by soothing jazz or upbeat rock music while perusing through handmade jewelry and pottery. Don’t forget to take a tour of the historic Farm Museum either!
Baltimore Beer Week
We couldn’t possibly mention the Maryland Wine Festival without also including the Baltimore Beer Week! There are plenty of people out there that would prefer a locally brewed beer over a locally grown wine any day, and this week-long event is perfect for them. There are so many different events going on during this week that it would be impossible to list them all here. What we will say is that if you love beer and if you love Baltimore, you should definitely come out at least once or twice and see what the buzz is all about!
Make it Memorable
If you really want to know how you could possibly make any of these amazing fall events even better, it lies in two words: car service. We’re not talking about a taxi or an Uber. We’re talking about a chauffeured Baltimore car service. Not only will they keep you from driving after you’ve enjoyed one too many glasses of wine or bottles of handcrafted beer, they’ll also add an extra special touch to your outing. If you’re attending any of these events as a first date or even just a date night with your husband or wife of many years, a chauffeured limousine or sedan can make it all the more special. Additionally, if you’re hoping to enjoy any of these events with a large group of people, a shuttle bus or Sprinter can keep everyone together without worrying about who will be driving who.
Baltimore is a fantastic city, no matter what time of year. There are so many different events, festivals, shows, and sporting events going on that should keep you busy all year long. Make them all memorable by reserving a Baltimore car service for the day!
