4 Baltimore Vineyards You Need to Visit

With warmer weather upon us, you probably don't need a reason to get outside. But just in case you're looking for things to do in Baltimore on a sunny weekend, why not spend the afternoon wine tasting at a local vineyard? Here are four great Baltimore vineyards to check out:

1. Boordy Vineyards

12820 Long Green Pike, Hydes, MD 21082

Boordy Vineyards, approximately 45 minutes northeast of Baltimore, offers some of the finest wines in the region. Plus, each wine consists of 100 percent Maryland-grown grapes, ensuring that you’ll be able to sample a great vintage that is fresh and locally produced.

The vineyard produces 20 different wines across three distinct collections: the Landmark Series, Chesapeake Icons, and Sweetland Cellars. Any of Boordy's offerings is sure to make a bold statement.

Boordy Vineyards is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Winery and vineyard tours are held Monday through Friday at 3 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Groups of 10 or more must give 5 days notice.

2. Royal Rabbit Vineyards

1090 Jordan Sawmill Road, Parkton, MD 21120

For handcrafted, artisanal wines, you simply cannot go wrong with a visit to Royal Rabbit Vineyards in Parkton, Md. Just 40 minutes north of Baltimore, Royal Rabbit represents a superior choice for those who appreciate the simplicity of a boutique winery and anything-but-ordinary wines. Its reds, whites, aperitifs, and dessert wines have received several awards from Maryland Governor’s Cup Competition and Maryland Winemasters’ Choice Awards for their complex flavor profiles.

Royal Rabbit Vineyards' tasting room is open Thursday through Monday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tours start at 11 a.m.

3. Harford Vineyard & Winery

1311 West Jarrettsville Road, Forest Hill, MD 21050

Established in 2003, Harford Vineyard & Winery specializes in finely-crafted wines, including dry, sweet, semi-sweet, and dessert varieties. The vineyard hosts live music on Friday nights during warmer months and weekend indoor fireside live music in colder months, which is the perfect addition to any wine tasting. Harford Vineyard & Winery's laidback, casual setting is the perfect setting for a summer after well-spent.

The vineyard is open Thursday through Monday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

4. Fiore Winery & Distillery

3026 Whiteford Road, Pylesville, MD 21132

Fiore Winery & Distillery brings a long-standing tradition of Italian winemaking to Baltimoreans. Fiore provides a beautiful, bucolic environment where visitors can take a leisurely stroll around the compound. Pack a lunch, grab a bottle, and enjoy a picnic on the grounds.

The vineyard offers a range of wines, including sweet, semi-sweet, dry, varietals, and specialty wines. And since it's also a distillery, there are also several types of whiskey and other spirits to choose from.
